Inspiration for TORNADO ALLIE
I’ve always been fascinated by tornadoes, but like Drake in Tornado Allie, I feared them as a child. Later, my fear led to a mini-obsession with extreme weather. When the warning sirens blared, instead of getting to safety in the basement, I’d run outside and scan the sky for a twister. Now I’m a trained storm spotter!
Tornado Allie was born in the summer of 2013 when I heard the story about three storm chasers who’d lost their lives doing what they loved the most, and on the same day, learned my friend was diagnosed with cancer. Since I haven’t yet had the chance to cross storm chasing off my bucket list, I decided writing about it was the next best thing!
